How many guests can the cottage accommodate?
The cottage comfortably sleeps up to four guests. There are two bedrooms: a master bedroom with a super king-size bed, and a second bedroom with two single beds.
Is The Canalside Cottage dog friendly?
Dogs are welcome and stay free of charge. We provide dog blankets which we kindly ask to put on furniture, a water bowl, and treats to help make your four-legged friend feel at home.
Is there parking and can I charge my electric car?
Yes. The cottage has private, secure parking with an electric vehicle charging point available at extra cost.
Does the cottage have heating and air-con?
The cottage has underfloor heating throughout which is easily controllable. There is no air-con, however a fan is provided.
What cooking facilities are available?
The kitchen is fully equipped for your stay and includes an electric oven and hob, microwave, air fryer, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine and kettle, along with cutlery, crockery and other essentials.
Is there a TV?
Yes. The living area has a smart TV with access to services including Netflix and Amazon. There is also an HDMI connection if you like to connect your own games console.
Is there outdoor space?
The cottage has a garden and patio area, providing a lovely place to sit outside and enjoy the boats passing on the canal. It is important to note that the garden is NOT enclosed.
How close is the canal?
The cottage is located directly beside the Trent and Mersey Canal, with a private gate which leads straight onto the towpath.
Is there a pub or somewhere to eat nearby?
Yes. There are several pubs in Shardlow which all serve food and most of which less than a mile away from the cottage. There is also a local Chinese and Indian restaurant.
Is The Canalside Cottage suitable for a longer stay?
Yes. With a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living space, dining area, Wi-Fi, and everything you need for a home from home stay, the cottage is well suited to both short breaks and longer stays. Important to note: there are no laundry services available on the property, there is a self laundrette at The Co-Op in Castle Donington or a proper laundrette in Sawley.
